The 2004-04-04 Quick Release Spring Training Series #2 B Race started with a brutally hard headwind punishing the riders right from the start. A quick jump from the gun immediately split the field into 2 groups. For the remainder of the race the wind was unrelenting.

Within 5 laps the remnants of the 2 groups had reformed with all of the TBLFAAVC riders still in the race. The team tactic was the break up into 2 groups, one for the first 1/2 of the race, a second group for the last 1/2. Good efforts to break away were made by all of the team, but the wide roads, easy turns and brutal headwind made it extremely difficult for any groups to succeed.

The first and second primes were both taken by Jacob Steffy of MSU.

As the race entered 5 laps to go, Saturn of Toledo/Shell and TBLFAAVC pushed the pace and attacks took off left and right. With a lap to go Jeff Elam was in a break of 4 with 2 Saturn of Toledo/Shell riders which was quickly being reeled in.

TBLFAAVC formed a modestly successful lead out and Randy Hermann
bagged 3rd, powerfully sprinting from the front of the leadout.

However, Jacob Steffy was again the victor, sprinting from 20 places
back at the last turn, past the lead group by himself and into the
headwind for the win.
